OK, here is one piece of useful info: I just posted to bacula-users using a GNU Emacs mail client, connecting to a sendmail mail server that is behind a firewall. The message was accepted by sourceforge and delivered back to me and also reached the nabble.com archive, so I think that shows that it can work without GUI mail clients. FWIW, there were no mime-version or content-type headers on the outgoing message, so that appears to be another wild rumour disproved. __Martin p.s.
