Perhaps you have and I am coming in late on a thread, ignore if you've done all this. I didnt see the tape verification stuff, I'll try that now. Also I'd like to report that i got the tape to unmount successfully by putting in the mt -f $4 offline in the mtx-changer :) The permissions are OK, root should have sufficient access, especially since I can run the commands and they work.
