I'm unsure about any resource on this, but there should be information 
somehwere regarding the different "standards" of naming tape formats... 
I wouldn't rule out that TR-5 uses QIC 3095 as recording format.

Tapeinfo needs the SCSI generic device as a file. So you should call it 
with /dev/sg0 or similar. Under linux, that is.

Have you terminated btape, checked the system log, and ried the 
emergence eject procedure for your drive?

In the configuration you should then disable the Forward Space File 
capability and retry the tests.

I'm quite sure that Bacula can use your drive but it might take some 
time setting it up. I've had some longis sessions setting up older 
non-SCSI2 drives myself, but in the end I got them running fine.
