I've got my bacula box setup running Fedora Core 5 using the 1.38.11-3.fc5.i386.rpms for bacula-posgresql, bacula-mtx, bacula-gconsole, and bacula-client. I have posgresql, bacula-dir, bacula-fd, and bacula-sd setup to run as services, but bacula-dir won't start.
When I do a "service bacula-dir start it returns (I'm typing this from one window to another, so typos are possible here): Starting Bacula Director services: 01-Nov 22:46 bacula-dir: Fatal error: Could not open Catalog "MyCatalog", database "bacula". 01-Nov 22:46 bacula-dir: Fatal error: postgresgl.c:168 Unable to connect to PostgreSQL server. Database=bacula User=bacula It is probably not running or your password is incorrect. 01-Nov 22:46 bacula-dir ERROR TERMINATION Please correct configuration file: /etc/bacula/bacula-dir.conf So I notice there is a "create_postgresql_database script. Sounds like a good idea, but I get this: psql: FATAL: role "root" does not exist Creation of bacula database failes. Okay, let's try grant_bacula_privileges: psql: FATAL: database "bacula" does not exist Error creating privileges. Obviously there is some magic preliminary step I've overlooked in here to setup PostgreSQL, but I'm no expert on PostgreSQL (or any other database) and I haven't a clue where to start.
