Sure... something is really slow :-)

The catalog entries are only updates when a tape file is finished, by 
default every 2 GB, so that shouldn't worry you.

The real question here is where the bottle-neck is... 100 GB per day is 
definitely too slow.

Is this over the network, how much is the network loaded, do you use 
spooling, have you run the btape tests - these are the first questions 
that come to my mind.
