Yes. Not me, but I follow the list and there are people using windows as an SD with a tape drive. > I've had to > remove the tape drive from the system where my director and main > disk-based sd lives. You should be aware that people reported more problems on windows than on unix. Given the probably relatatively small number of full windows installations, that sounds even worse. However, I don't think you need to worry too much: - Much of the problems come from cultural dfferences between windows and unix admins (i.e., windows users tend to install first, read later, and then ask questions. Unix admins read, think, install in that order * ). - The windows SD and DIR are not as thoroughly proven as the nix versions; it's more likely to find serious bugs in them. This, however, is an extremely good reason to set up a windows SD: Only when you find problems they can be fixed. Robert, the main windows developer, is usually very helpful, and I have the impression that once he understands a problem he gets it fixed soon. * I admit I'm over-simplifying here; however, the overall tendency is correctly described IMO. I do know that most successful windows admins really work very careful and do NOT skip the thinking phase when implementing a new service. Also note that I'm aware that I know that there are also windows people who know lots more about unix than I do. If you don't like my statement consider it to be too strong irony. And keep the flame war off the list, please - you've got my personal mail address.
