Mondoarchive allows you to specify the kernel/initrd to use on the boot CD. As long as the boot CD can boot the new hardware it should work. I use the stock Fedora kernel, so have never worried too much about it. However, now that Fedora has decided to dynamically create the initrd image at kernel install time, I may have to re-think that. Disk setup does not have to be the same, but will require an interactive, rather than automated, restore.
