I manually set a tape to recycle using
update volume="CNIxyz" volstatus="Recycle"

This tape has been used before, it was "LastWritten" on 13th October 2007.
It was also "FirstWritten" on 13th October 2007. It has a maximum use
time of 1 day. i.e. the maximum time between First and Last written is 1
day.

I then run two jobs
run backup1 Level=Full Pool=Weekly
run backup2 Level=Full Pool=Weekly

neither job has ever run before so it needs to do a full backup anyway, I
just want it to put it in the correct pool.

backup1 runs correctly writing to volume CNIxyz. Immediately after
writing to the tape, it changes the "LastWritten" to today (expected). It
also changes the status to "Used", stating maximum use time has been
exceeded (not expected). The "FirstWritten" time is not updated (not
expected). Surely, the "FirstWritten" time of this tape should also have
been updated to todays date, and the tape marked Append?

backup2 does not write to volume CNIxyz it tries to write to a different
volume (expected as CNIxyz is now marked used).

Is this the correct behaviour? I have marked what I expect, though that
may not be what should happen.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Many thanks,

Spencer
