Hello there,

I found this 2 year old message from Roland Arendes about db locking:
http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.bacula.user/11754/match=database+locking

He was talking about a parameter in Catalog Resource called "Multiple
Connections = yes/no". This parameter does not show up in the actual
dokumentation, I found it only in this manual from March 2005:
http://www.sibbald.com/bacula/html-manual/Catalog_Resource.html

Is there anybody out there, who remembers what happend with this
parameter? The changelog under /usr/share/doc/bacula-server/ told me,
that Multiple Connections code was disabled in Bacula 1.37.12, but not
why... This seems to be a blind alley (or however this is called in
english).

I can imagine, that the whole catalog must be locked. But is this also
needed, if I start a restore job? Maybe I am missinterpreting
something, but the backup job seems to be paused during
tree-build-phase. Should I switch to a different maschine with another
bacula dir and mysql db instance to do the restores?

I there a chance, that this problem went away with an update to the
latest 2.2.x version of bacula?

A little kick in the right direction would be very appreciated!

Thanks in advancy,
Christian
