I've got a Bacula instance running (3.0.9 on the server 3.0.1/3.0.0 on the clients) that is backing up a dozen or so FreeBSD machines without an issue. I'm also backing up a small amount of data from a local w2k8 machine with no problems.
I recently added a w2k3 machine as a client, and intend on backing up about 50GB from that machine across a T1. (I understand how long that will take). 2 hours and 20 minutes into the job (within a couple seconds of that mark) the job fails with the following output. 16-Jun 15:00 mothra JobId 4179: Fatal error: Network error with FD during Backup: ERR=Operation timed out 16-Jun 15:00 mothra-storage JobId 4179: Fatal error: fd_cmds.c:181 FD command not found: xœ 16-Jun 15:00 mothra-storage JobId 4179: Fatal error: fd_cmds.c:172 Command error with FD, hanging up. 16-Jun 15:00 mothra JobId 4179: Fatal error: No Job status returned from FD. 16-Jun 15:00 mothra JobId 4179: Error: Bacula mothra 3.0.0 (06Apr09): 16-Jun-2009 15:00:53 Build OS: i386-portbld-freebsd7.1 freebsd 7.1-RELEASE-p5 JobId: 4179 Job: msmx.XXXXX.2009-06-16_12.40.51_52 Backup Level: Full (upgraded from Incremental) Client: "msmx.XXXXXX" 3.0.1 (28Apr09) Linux,Cross-compile,Win32 FileSet: "MSMXFS" 2009-06-16 12:40:51 Pool: "MSMX" (From Job resource) Catalog: "MyCatalog" (From Client resource) Storage: "FileMSMX" (From Job resource) Scheduled time: 16-Jun-2009 12:40:50 Start time: 16-Jun-2009 12:40:54 End time: 16-Jun-2009 15:00:53 Elapsed time: 2 hours 19 mins 59 secs Priority: 10 FD Files Written: 0 SD Files Written: 7,831 FD Bytes Written: 0 (0 B) SD Bytes Written: 1,491,054,294 (1.491 GB) Rate: 0.0 KB/s Software Compression: None VSS: no Encryption: no Accurate: no Volume name(s): SR-MSMX-0274 Volume Session Id: 48 Volume Session Time: 1244993298 Last Volume Bytes: 1,492,457,944 (1.492 GB) Non-fatal FD errors: 0 SD Errors: 0 FD termination status: Error SD termination status: Error Termination: *** Backup Error *** I've run it a number of times and it always fails within seconds of 2hrs 20min.
