It's not that there's a problem with using the default values it's just that some of they aren't optimized for cutting edge hardware. Read the description of the values and it's spelled out pretty well. I would definitely recommend doing some repeatable tests with this kind of tuning parameters as the optimum values may depend heavily on your director's CPU and other hardware.
