Joseph Thanks for looking over file. I will spend more time reading the manual as you suggested. The configuration file was taken from the manual and for some reason the pools that the manual defines (eg. Full-Pool, Inc-Pool and Diff-Pool) are being used for the first job called JotBackupJob. You had mentioned in your last email that it seemed they would not be used. When I look at a listing of the disk where the backups are written to I can see the following: Jot.bsr BackupCatalog.bsr Default-0002 Full-0001 Inc-0003
It's not been running for more than a week so it's not written to the Diff- pool yet but the Full- and Inc- pools are filling up with volumes. Through the bconsole I can see that the catalog backups are being written to the Default pool while the Full and Inc backups are being written to the Full-**** and Inc-**** pools. For example, each time a new incremental backup is made, the labeling of Inc-000* is incremented by 1. So it seems the bacula-dir.conf file is doing what it is supposed to do. Of course I may be misinterpreting everything but it does seem to be functioning as I need it to. Thanks again for your help. Andy. -----Original Message----- From: Joseph L. Default Pool is a name of a pool, misleading I suppose... You have jobs that use it: Job { ... Pool = Default ... } Ironically, you don't even have any jobs that reference the pools you did create. Probably by chance, you defined "Storage" in your job, as the "Default Pool" you added lacks the definition where your manually created pools contain it. Reading the docs, you will see which overrides which. You're also not using the pools you created which I assume you mean to? Check your job defs... Take a breath, read the docs, it's actually very light reading but given the severity of you getting it wrong, you stand to lose lots. After all, backing up incorrectly kind of defeats the purpose, yeah:) That config is a smidge messy and its clear you don't yet know enough about the directives for you to think you have a reliable setup. Go do some reading:) hth, jlc ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- The Planet: dedicated and managed hosting, cloud storage, colocation Stay online with enterprise data centers and the best network in the business Choose flexible plans and management services without long-term contracts Personal 24x7 support from experience hosting pros just a phone call away. http://p.sf.net/sfu/theplanet-com _______________________________________________ Bacula-users mailing list Bacula-users@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/bacula-users ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Planet: dedicated and managed hosting, cloud storage, colocation Stay online with enterprise data centers and the best network in the business Choose flexible plans and management services without long-term contracts Personal 24x7 support from experience hosting pros just a phone call away. http://p.sf.net/sfu/theplanet-com _______________________________________________ Bacula-users mailing list Bacula-users@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/bacula-users
