I have done this for years to the intermittent workstations. I have the RunBeforeJob issue wake-on-lan packets to the client, as many times the machine is there, just in sleep mode. It definitely helps, although it worked much better before most were switched to WiFi connected laptops. I've never had much luck getting wake-on-wlan to work correctly.
Perhaps a better approach for these clients would be client-initiated backups?
