S3 buckets are completly supported and have decent performance.

Using libfuse or any mounting technique provides much less performance and 
reliability due to the extra layers. The Bacula S3 Plugin, available in both 
Community and Enterprise versions, is a superior solution on those aspects:

Yes, of course. As long as you have any form of TCP connection with the Bacula 
ports (9102 and 9103). You don't even need to use a VPN since Bacula 
connections are automatically encrypted since v. 10/11 via PSK.

Yes. A single Director can handle virtually an infinite number of Storage 
Daemons.
