If you are trying to deal with laptops that users take in and out of the office, then look into the "Reschedule On Error" directive for the Job

I'm already doing this: sooner or later rescheduling will find each client up, but this is useless if it's powered down again before the job finishes.

When I had similar requirement, I used "Reschedule On Error" as Josh already suggested.

I also created a small script and configured user's desktop so that they can execute
a script by double-clicking the icon on their desktop.
A script would then run a job using bconsole tool.

I remember that I had to configure bacula to allow only certain commands for certain bacula console. In that case, special console resource was configured to allow only
few commands needed to run certain backup job.

That allowed me to provide users with the ability to run a job by themselves, at the time they like, while still preventing users to perform any other commands that could
endanger backed up data.

Unfortunately, I used that configuration a long time ago and I can't provide detailed
configuration example.
