LTO-9 is really tricky when it comes to environmental conditions... all the vendors I know of do not offer that technology as stand-alone drives for exactly that reason -- they prefer their drives in controlled environments in data center racks.
That said...
the motors (the cassette one) seems does not work (after a bad tape jamming...) I know that Tandberg goes bankrupcy, but the unit is an IBM one and i hope there's some sort of service (IBM or third party).
Good luck. As far as I can predict, IBM will not offer support for that drive, but you will have to try to find out.
I know at least one tape library vendor who's willing to help migrating from Tandberg to their own stuff, including installing and supporting existing drives, but that requires a library around it -- they actually do have a contract with IBM that allows them to change OEM firmware of existing drives.
Those guys *might* be able to help with your case if you set up with one of their libraries, but my gut feeling is that this will still be more expensive than just finding the cheapest single drive LTO-9 library.
I would be very interested to know what other options you find. And good luck! Arno
In Europe, better in Italy. Someone have some clue? Thanks.
