I am pleased to report that I signed a lease and wrote a check for office
space this morning. Our landlords, Tony Langford and
Brian Jarrett are giving us an exceptional deal, and they are
just as excited about us moving in as we are. Tony and Brian rented us the
office space that we used for the Presidential campaign, which is just down
the hall from where we are now. The space we took possession of this morning
is about half the size we had before.
Our Congressional suite has a reception area, a volunteer work area, three
small, private offices, one large office for fundraising activity, and a small
room for phone circuitry and office supplies. Our high priority now is to get
high speed internet, telephones, and cable television installed - hopefully
before the end of the week. We also have to rent or purchase basic office
furniture so the office can be fully functional before the Ice Cream
Social/Open House scheduled for September 18th.
Jon Airheart, Raymond Bryant, and I are
in Austin, and ready and excited about getting this campaign started as soon
as possible. The goal is to win the first openly Libertarian seat
in Congress in 2006. You can help us make that dream a reality.

After last Novembers election, Green Party candidate David Cobb and I
continued to champion the cause of Liberty by demanding a recount of the
election results in Ohio. Just so you know, I received passionate responses
from Libertarians on both sides of this issue. Ultimately I decided that
demanding legitimate elections far outweighed any negative public perception
of the challenge. It has been almost ten months since we started our
challenge, but it isnt over yet.
I recently spoke with our attorney, John Bonifaz from the
National Voting Rights Institute in Boston.
He told me that there is an administrative hearing scheduled for late
August. The judge plans to review all of the outstanding motions before making
a decision how to proceed - if we proceed at all.
The original complaint was submitted in Toledo, Ohio, followed by a second
charge filed in Columbus. Those complaints have been joined together, and will
be decided in Toledo.
The first motion to be considered is a motion to dismiss that was entered
by the Secretary of State. Mr. Bonifaz does not believe the judge will dismiss
the case because of the preponderance of evidence collected during the alleged
recount. He also indicated that the judge has ruled in our favor several
times, so he fully expects the litigation to continue at some level.
Our position is going to acknowledge that another recount would be futile
this long after the election. However, every voter in America has a right to
assume that their vote will be counted accurately, and therefore we are asking
for a judicial mandate that the State of Ohio establish a paper trail for all
ballots, as well as a documented procedure that outlines how future recounts
will be conducted. In other words, we cant prevent the corruption of the last
election, but we want to do everything we can to prevent corruption in
future elections.
One last note of interest. The Democratic Party reluctantly supported our
lawsuit very late in the game. They conceded that maybe there had been some
improprieties during the election. (Say it isnt so!) John Bonifaz has learned
from outside sources that the Democrats are now planning to withdraw their
support for this contest. Apparently, the Democrats dont have the resources
to continue. (BWAH-ha-ha-ha-ha!) It is clear that the Democrats dont have
enough money to contibute to the cause of Liberty and integrity - leaving that
task to passionate third party candidates.
I will report further details as I become aware of them.

an important analysis of the 2004 Presidential Elections, and what went
wrong there. We have found, says the report, numerous serious election
irregularities in the Ohio presidential election which resulted in

Operation Clean Sweep is aimed

defeating every single incumbent officeholder up for re-election in 2006.
The current members of the [Pennsylvania] General Assembly have slapped
taxpayers in the face by awarding themselves a huge pay increase. While some
members did vote no on the increase, it is common knowledge that most votes
were pre-arranged to protect vulnerable seats.
Operation Clean Sweep is not a Republican, Democrat, Libertarian,
Constitution or Green Party issue. Its us vs. them. The governed vs. the
government. The taxpayers vs. the tax spenders.

In 2006, all 203 members of the House of Representatives and 25 of our 50

One of the stories in the news - at least here in Texas - comes from just
outside President Bushs ranch in Crawford, Texas. Cindy Sheehans son was
killed in Iraq last year, and Ms.
Sheehan is hoping to talk to George Bush to find out why we went to Iraq,
and why were still there so long after he declared victory. In an effort to
facilitate that conversation, Ms. Sheehan (and hundreds of her supporters) are
camped out at the entrance to the Presidents ranch while he is on vacation
there.
I know that this is a significant story because my friend, Ernest Hancock has recently driven
all the way from Arizona to videotape an interview with Ms. Sheehan, and to do
a continuing news report from the scene.
Now I read that a Pro-Bush neighbor has caused some concern for the
gathered protesters by firing a gun into the air. (see World Net
Daily) The neighbor, Larry Mattladge, is alleged to have said, I got a
right to fire up into the air. My initial reaction was to disagree, knowing
that many people have been killed by bullets returning to earth far from where
the shooter pulled the trigger. (Ive seen a CSI episode that dealt with this
issue, so it must be true!) However Mr. Mattladge then complained
that [the Sheehan protesters] were messin up his dove huntin Since the
standard gun for dove hunting is a shotgun, there is significantly less danger
from falling birdshot.
Ive just spoken with Ernie to get a first-hand account of what has been
happening. Ernie said that sometime this morning that several gun shots were
heard, and someone called the Sheriff. When interviewed about the incident,
Ms. Sheehan indicated that she didnt care if someone fired a gun on their own
property, as long as the bullets remained on their property, too.
One interesting thing that Ernie reported was that several busloads of
Pro-Bush supporters were brought in to protest the protesters. However after
the news media had taken the necessary video footage, most of the Pro-Bush
people reboarded the buses and left. Cindy Sheehan has several hundred
supporters camped out with her, whereas there are only about a dozen Bush
supporters hanging around at any given time.

Greetings.
I arrived in Philadelphia on Tuesday evening, and have been attending the
federal trial that could potentially be the beginning of the end for the
IRS. Larken Rose is the originator of two websites that offer an explanation
of how to determine who is liable to pay income taxes in the United States. It
is his assertion that the IRS is currently misinterpreting and misapplying the
law. For years he has been trying to get the IRS to confirm or deny that
Section 861 is the method of determining who is liable. The IRS and DOJ
(Department of Justice) have flatly refused to answer the question. (see www.TaxableIncome.net and www.Theft-by-Deception.com)
Larken and his assistant counsel, Larry BeCraft, are doing a really
wonderful job of presenting their case. Naturally, the prosecution is doing
everything they can to paint Larken as a lunatic who is merely trying to avoid
paying taxes. The closing arguments will be finished on Friday morning, and
the jury will begin their deliberations by 11:00am.
