Again, I think this is a currently exposed issue we should jump all over. Write to your local and national newspapers. The more letters editors receive from us the more likely they are to print libertarian ideas now and in the future. Feel free to use some of the language in your own letters if you'd like.

Big Government Attracts Big Money
To the Editor:
In regards to the recent media attention on congressional lobbying, it should not surprise anyone, as it surely does not surprise the two financed political parties’ representatives in Congress, that big money is attracted to big government’s (extended) powers. With our currently debased system, our representatives sell favorable legislation to cronies, highest bidders and appetizing voting blocks. Do we really want a system where different segments of the population need to fight each other for government resources and largess? The Constitution was to ensure that our government, property and liberties were not saleable items. Sadly, the Republicans and Democrats have been the gatekeepers of our government and have been selling us out for years.
Representatives are consistently voted back into office, despite their overstepping of (unimposed) legal restraints. The courts, despite knowledge that we are a constitutional republic designed to protect the individual from the "tyranny" of the majority, the wealthy and the unified, have allowed representatives to do so through legislation. Our government was accepted to protect citizens from force and fraud, not to initiate force against its citizens.
If you prefer to get big money corruption out of American politics, the answer is not Senator John McCain’s next misguided and unlawful attempt to restrict our right to petition Congress, but rather reasserting the limits on government powers. Vote for Libertarian candidates who understand the appropriate functions of government, who do not sell government power and citizens' rights to those willing to buy it. What special interests, other than self-ownership, nonaggression and liberty, are going to buy that?
