Dear firestorm,

I couldn't agree with you more!  Sadly we haven't reached the point where a thorough investigation of the Writings of Baha'u'llah, or Abdu'l-Baha, or Shoghi Effendi is common place in the Baha'i community.  The majority in my acquaintance are still relying on "sound byte" information they read or overheard ...for guidance.

I feel one of the greatest benefits to the Faith to be realized during my Baha'i life has been the development of the Research Department and access to the Writings via the Internet.  As Ruhiyyih Khanum said, describing the Guardian's approach to writing in The Priceless Pearl:  "He never compromised with the ignorance of his readers but expected them, in their thirst for knowledge, to overcome their ignorance. ...  After all, what one does not know one can find out."
