Dear Brent, That particular passage does not strike me as saying anything different than what is true of all of our elected institutions, that they are not responsible to the electorate and must make their decisions and that they must rule according to their own conscience. The divine guidance mentioned in this context appears the same as that given to an LSA. "The legislative and judicial functions are explicit. The judicial function is expressed in the words "any case presented for their consideration"." I'm not sure that the Guardian didn't just mean 'matter' rather than 'case' in the legal sense. But I agree that the Houses of Justice appear to have judicial power. "This quote is particularly important because it specifies that it is the elected membership that receives this guidance; i.e. not dependent on the presence of the Guardian." Given that Guardian is describing a process of decision making which holds for all our elected institution, I'm not sure this proves that the infalliblity of the House is not dependent. But I think it is enough that there is certainly nothing in the Writings that suggests their infalliblity is dependent on the Guardian.
