I think these experiences are real in the sense that many people
really do have them. I don't think NDE's are a proof of anything,
because they can be induced by chemicals or by electrically
stimulating certain areas of the brain. However, the fact that
an NDE can be induced by artificial means does not prove that
these experiences are nothing but stimulation of parts of the brain.
It's important to avoid the error of scientific reductionism.
I do believe Near Death Experiences are
a sign for us, not a proof but a sign, an indicator,
that there is conscious existence after physical death.
