For example, even in the Torah it says you are supposed to look out for your neighbor. But in the story of the Good Samaritan, Jesus didn't fundamentally change the moral principle. In the story he merely had a broader notion of who your "neighbor" is.
A whole lot broader.
To a good Jew, a Samaritan was
a foreigner
a heretic
a race mixer
I.e., the most despised of all people.Remember the story of the Samaritan woman at the well? A good Jew would have starved before he would have accepted a draught of water drawn by a Samaritan.
