Dear Scott,

The biggest problem I see with this paper is that it is based on the
"clash of civilizations" myth which presents the conflict between
developed nations and underdeveloped nations of the Islamic world in
a way which completely ignores the legacy and impact of imperialism.
>From the standpoint of the Islamic world it is imperialism, not
modernity which is the problem. That's why approaches which supposedly
remove 'radicals' don't work. They only perpetuate the legacy of
imperialism and the resentment that creates along with the disparities
in economic development.

warmest, Susan
