But it is not a word that Abdu'l-Baha uses for 'century.' So far as I know it was not used in that sense until the middle 20th century. In the Qajar period it was a unit of 100 soldiers, after that I've seen it used for a centenary of some event, and more recently for a century. Here it just means "many", or to use a similar English metaphor: "they created a battalion of tools and instruments" (a battalion is roughly 1000 men, not a 100, but nobody in English would say they created a company of instruments.)
