at the belly to the ground level, i would share common ground with you on
that. it being 2009, what might be speculated about someone's head in 1919 is
not gonna milk the cows.
at the Covenantal level, imho the issue is separating the powers and
attributes of shoghi effendi from those of the Guardianship.
thus, shoghi effendi is an adequate historian and careful story teller in
Gpb... the Guardian is an infalllible guide to interpreting current events in
aDj.
my normal short hand for this is that somebody or other might speak farsi or
know qajar history better than shoghi effendi, but no one can claim to
understand the intent of the Text better than the Guardian.
i find this separation of person from station to be very useful as a marker
point. indeed, imho it is critical to answering the seeker's question, "so why
isn't this system gonna collapse in precisely the same way past ones have?"
"because God Said so" is, in my experience, only an answer to the believer.
"because obedience to the Guardian is notttt veneration of shoghi effendi;
obedience to the House is nottt veneration of whatever 9 dudes sit at a table"
often has been.
