>Dear Susan,

>> Further to our letter dated 27 September 2009, we have been asked to

>> Bahá'u'lláh Revealed after the Kitáb-i-Aqdas, A1l-i-Kullu'l-Khayr
>> (Words of Wisdom), was
>> actually revealed before the Kitáb-i-Aqdas and probably in Baghdad. A
>> copy of the Tablet in

>> authorities in 1868 during Bahá'u'lláh's exile in Adrianople (Edirne).

>I'm interested to know what occasioned this discovery.

A Ph.D. student doing research in the Ottoman archives in Turkey.

>Were the contents of the confiscated documents
>previously known, or was this merely brought to
>the attention of the Research Department
>recently?

Only in general terms. There has not been very
much research, Baha'i or otherwise, in the
Ottoman archives. In part, this is because of
policies of the Turkish gov't - they have been
concerned about what might be fund. This has
changed due to their interest in joining the EU.
On top of that, we are getting more young Baha'i
scholars with the expertise and academic support
to make such investigations. AS a result, the
confiscated documents were discovered in 2000,
and provisionally identified and indexed. This
letter indicates that in the last year, the BWC
has officially confirmed this discovery.

>Do these documents still exist?
>

Yes. But don't expect any great revelations.
Abdu'l-=Baha expresses His regret in a Tablet to
having had to destroy copies of His
correspondence w/ Turks because of concerns that
that the Commission of Inquiry would use it
against Himself as well as others.
