Dear Stephen, Sufism, of course, is Islamic mysticism, which like all mysticism aims at obtaining a sense of oneness with God. If by that what is meant is oneness of essence then it could rightly be described as monistic or pantheistic. But for the most part the unity sought by Sufis was unity with the will of God, not His essence.
