The Baha'i Studies Listserv http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sociology http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Structural_functionalism http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Symbolic_interactionism http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conflict_theory I'm took some classes in sociology, so I'm familliar with it and these three theories in particular. Marxism goes under conflict theory rather than under the name Marxism itself in sociology. It's weird there has been little mention of structuralism / functionalism, since it puts alot of emphasis on the unity of society as a whole. Also, other ideologies than Marxism have been tied to sociology. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Existentialism http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Postmodernism So why does Marxism gets so overrepresent among socilogical thought in Bahai Studies? I personally tend to view things as a symbolic interactionist, but some overlap with structuralism /functionalism does occur. __________________________________________________ You are subscribed to Baha'i Studies as: mailto:[email protected] Unsubscribe: send a blank email to mailto:leave-659704-27401.54f46e81b66496c9909bcdc2f7987...@list.jccc.edu Subscribe: send subscribe bahai-st in the message body to [email protected] Or subscribe: http://list.jccc.edu:8080/read/all_forums/subscribe?name=bahai-st Baha'i Studies is available through the following: Mail - mailto:[email protected] Web - http://list.jccc.edu:8080/read/?forum=bahai-st News (on-campus only) - news://list.jccc.edu/bahai-st Old Public - http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected] New Public - http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]
