Your question re: Qayyum al-Asma is most
interesting
and my friend Faruq has written in
reply.
Qa'im literally means He Who ariseth. He who is
standing.
Qayyum in the "superlative" of Qa'im He by Whom
through Whom for Whom all else are standing. All have Their being through the
Qayyum.
In the Writings it is translated either as Self
Subsisting or Self existent
** the hearts shall be dilated and overflow
with the love of the All-living [ha.yy]and Self-existent
[Qayyum]God
(`Abdu'l-Baha: Baha'i World Faith*, Page: 415) Now Qayyum al Asma would mean that Being through
Whom all Names have their being. Without Him no Name will have referential
significance.
The Bab himself did not call the Book Qayyum
al-Asma in the Qayyum al-Asma Itself. The Bab referred to His "first" Book by
this name in the Persian Bayan. You can read it clearly on the last line of this
page:
Further in the Arabic Bayan He said *all of ye
should rise should get up in respect when ye hear the Dhikr of Him Whom God will
manifest and ye should watch the difference between the Qa'im and Qayyum [9] for
in the Year Nine ye shall attain unto all good.
fa le taqumunna antum kullukum ajma'uun idha
sami'tum dhikra Man Nuz.hiruhu bil Qa'im falituraaqibanna farqa al-Qa'im wa
lQayyum thumma fee sanati "Tis'" antum kulla khayrin tudrikuun [Al-Bayan
al-arabi The Arabic Bayan]
Baha'u'llah refers to this
He saith - blessed and glorified be He: "In the
year nine ye will attain unto all good." On another occasion He saith: "In
the year nine ye will attain unto the Presence of
God."
(Baha'u'llah: Epistle to the Son of the Wolf, Page: 141) In the past the divines were perplexed over this question, a question which He Who is the Sovereign Truth hath, during the early years of His life, Himself heard them ask repeatedly: `What is that Word which the Qa'im will pronounce whereby the leaders of religion are put to flight?' Say, that Word is now made manifest and ye have fled ere ye heard it uttered, although ye perceive it not. And that blessed, that hidden, that concealed and treasured Word is this: `"HE" hath now appeared in the raiment of "I". He Who was hidden from mortal eyes exclaimeth: Lo! I am the All-Manifest.' This is the Word which hath caused the limbs of disbelievers to quake. Glorified be God! All the heavenly Scriptures of the past attest to the greatness of this Day, the greatness of this Manifestation, the greatness of His signs, the greatness of His Word, the greatness of His constancy, the greatness of His pre-eminent station. Yet despite all this the people have remained heedless and are shut out as by a veil. Indeed all the Prophets have yearned to attain this Day. (Baha'u'llah: Tablets of Baha'u'llah, Pages: 258-259) i hope this helps but if not God willing you will
be inspired to see the answer yourself
nothing but an ephemeral dust
