Hi Guys, This is one more write up for the Belum ride on 1st March 2008. Got a call from Kailas on 29th feb 2008 at around 10:30 PM to make up a short ride to Skandagiri/or Kalavarahalli Betta near Nandi hills, we planned to start from Hebbal Fly over on 1st March 2008 at 7:30 AM, Ashok, Vamsi, Raghu were also invited for the ride. We all met at around 7:45 AM near Esteem Mall near Hebbal Flyover and moved towards Nandi Hills after filling up our tanks from Reliance Petrol bunk . On the way, 3 guys were behind, so myself and Ashok were waiting at one place. Suddenly a plan splashed in mind, why not ride to Belum??? anyways GR and Doc Prithvi also reaching there. GR was planning a mega ride along with Madbulls, Wanderers, etc., Once we caught up with other guys, after some discussions, we all decided to go to Belum, but Vamsi, Raghu and Kailas couldn't convice their wives and girlfriend (since he had booked ticket to Jodha Akbar next day 11 AM show) to go to Belum and they decided not to continue to Belum. Then myself and Ashok decided to move to Belum. At the entrance of Nandi hills road, we stopped for Breakfast (road side idli hotel on Maruti OMNI) and after having Breakfast, we parted , myself and Ashok moved toward Belum at 10:00 AM and other 3 guys (ie., Vamsi,Kailas and Raghu) moved towards Skandagiri. .. Absolutely no plan or idea to go Belum, no preparations, no extra clothes... we decided to Move.. First of all, not carried enough money, Raghu lend us 1500/- for petrol and expenses and we started :) We didn't take the Penukonda route to reach Ananthpur/Tadipatri, we took Puthaparthi route as it was scenic and traffic less single lane road.. It was really fun riding on that road. Actually from Bangalore to Tadipatri it was only 260 to 275 kms, and from there it was around 30 kms to Belum, but we lost our way and we went Ananthpur then to Tadipatri and Belum. Shortest route was Bangalore Bagepalli Koduru Dharmavaram Tadapatri Belum . Anyways, when we reached Belum at around 4 PM, ODO was showing 340 Kms approx. Co-incidentally GR and his friend Navaneeth too reached at the same time (Navi came on HH splendor from Hyd, really appreciate his patience, he has done Ladakh too on HH splendor) , we discussed for some minutes and myself/Ashok went to see the caves inside. Spent time till 6:30 inside the caves.. Night booze, dinner etc., Met many bull owners from Madbulls, wanderers, 60kph etc., Total around 21 bikes were there. Almost bullets, only 2 Pulsars, 1 Yamaha, 1 Karizma and 1 Splendor. At night, Prithvi gave a idea to reach bangalore after visiting a old temple at Lepakshi, he wanted to visit that place since some days, so we decided to go...Next day left Belum early at 6 AM before sun goes high. .. It was a total fun ride. In Return journey , Doc Prithvi joined us and it was a nice ride along with him, he is a awesome rider too. Return leg was Belum Tadapatri Dhamravaram Lepakshi Hindupur Gouribidnur Doballapur - Bangalore . Roads from Lepakshi to Bangalore are awesome and fun riding on them, our intention to go towards Hindupur is to avoid the highways which is getting repaired... Reached bangalore at 3 PM, parted at Hebbal flyover ...
Total distance covered: 660 KMs approx... 340 on way up and 320 on return . Thanks to GR, Dave and others for organizing the accomadation, food etc., actually we did not got accomadation since ours was unplanned ride, then after speaking to the managers out there at Belum, managed to get just two beds without pillows, and adjusted in the room where Hyd guys were staying.. Well, it did not matter, we just wanted to crash to bed after tiring ride in hot sun.
