I have a Bajaj Pulsar 2003 model and off late the mileage has dropped to a
great extent (around 34 kmpl running at roughly 3000 rpm). I have also been
having issues with acceleration i.e. in the lower gears, the engine RPM
increases but the bike doesnt seem to accelerate accordingly. This is a clutch
problem and I am getting it replaced..

At the bajaj service center,  the person also suggested a chain replacement. He
said that chain adjustment was to the maximum and could not be adjusted
further. When I asked him why dont they remove a link in the chain and then use
it again, he said that this is what local service guys do and we dont do that..
I have told him to let the chain be as it is for the time being.

What I wanted to know is if there is any serious problem with removing a link
in the slack chain and reusing it ?
