Me thinks, not sure how 'allowing attachments' will keep the group active. 
Imagine, mods allow attachments, what kind of attachments you expect, images, 
videos? There are many sites to upload them and share the links here, not a big 
deal. Also, I think blocking attachments in group implemented to avoid viruses 
too, ofc bandwidth was a problem. Not sure what is the limit too these days in 
yahoogroups. Never bothered to check too. :) Just my thoughts, others may 
disagree too.

 Allow attachments.
 
 Visual appeal will surely increase activity in the group! Times have changed
 and we do not necessarily face the kind of space / bandwidth restrictions of
 yesteryears any more. In the group, it appears that we are still kinda stuck
 in the 1MB Hotmail limit frame of mind. We can give this idea a try for a
 period of 2 months and take stock. Can revert to current mode if there is
 overwhelming increase in traffic. Don't lose anything if there isn't!
