Hi

I ride a pulsar 150 KS classic. The bike was fine until saturday morning. As
i had to go to a friends place I rode the bike in the afternoon. There were
some problems

1. At high RPM over 3k the bike was running fine
2. As I used to come to lower RPM either due to traffic or slow down the
bike used to sputter and die
3. Initially i thought that there is some problem of dust / mud in carb or
water in petrol tank
4. When the bike used to die the RPM meter used to increase or fluctuate but
the bike would not have any power and it simply used to shut down, 2-3 times
the bike misfired and I could hear a huge sound from the silencer as if
something is blasting.
5. Took it to a mechanic where the bike stopped who said that its an
electrical problem and said we need to replace coil (the one on the LHS
bottom of the bike below the engine.
6. After replacing the coil the same problem was observed by the mechanic so
he said its not an electrical problem but something else
7. He cleaned the carb , air filter et all and then said that there is a
case of misfiring from the bike
8. He opened the timing chain and said that its not set properly and did
something to set it by removing the tank and opening the topmost part where
the timing chain is.
9. He took a test-ride and claimed its fine now
10. I took a small test-ride and found it fine, bike was not sputtering and
dying (the old phenomena observed earlier)
11. Took the bike out of the mechanics shop and rode about 5-6 km to find
the same problem occurring (bike didnt stop but it used to simply stop
moving in any gear but the engine was still running)
12. Found that the bike is not actually performing properly too, and the
power generated at particular RPM feels way below now also the sputtering
and stopping problem is still present.

Any comments from experts? Will take it to my service guy tommorrow to see
what is actually happening and get it rectified.

Regards,
Jayaram
