My Oct 2003 Pulsar 180 DTS-i has covered 30,000 km and I have very
rarely come across false neutrals. If you bike is newer than that, I
am sure the gearbox would be better built to avoid even those.

The trick to avoid a false neutral is to shift properly and
completely. You have to get the "feel" of gear slotting in correctly
before you let go of the clutch and your foot off the lever. The
times when I have faced a false neutral... has always been when I half
heartedly shifted.

The trick of doing it right is to do it firmly (not harshly) and
positively. You will understand how the gear falls in by the feedback
on your toes. I also suggest shifting only using your toes (not heel)
because I guess the toes are more sensitive to movement. I can only
assume this as I have a toe only shifter and hence know to use only
that! Learn to do that and you will almost never have false neutrals
again.

What were you doing all this while when the bike slowed down?
Couldn't you brake (after holding in the clutch) and stop in time or
atleast change the gear in time. Why did you fall?

Now that's a big load! And I thought we Indians load our bikes a lot!
Don't you have police restrictions against overloading?

If it is a serious issue, get the gearbox checked at a service
station. Something must have got misaligned inside!

Doubt it could be oil related. Unless you used non specification oil.
What is the grade of oil did you put in, not the brand!
