Subject: [bajajpulsar] Front Disc brake jam and other issues with my bike

Hello Pugs,
This is my first post to this group.I had joined this group some 5
years back (was silent reader) and then go disassociated when I
stopped riding much.
Now again I ride my pulsar daily to office (32+ kms ).
I own a May 2003 model of pulsar - the first one that came out in the
market.I am very happy with it having ridden some 60K+ kms on it
mostly in the city as I am not much of highway rider.

I am facing some peculiar issue with front disc brake. After getting
the brake oil changed last year in Jan, the disc brake jams the front
wheel sometimes - The brake handles goes stiff and is almost unmovable
as if there is no room for movement of disc pads.Though I got it to
service station many times they are not able to figure out the issue -
they do the usual stuff changing brake oil (due to some air getting
in) changing brake pads etc etc but all this has not helped.I got it
serviced from popular motor and after lots of convincing they agreed
to look and fix the issue. They kept the vehicle for 2 days but alas
the very next day i faced the problem again.Took the vehicle back to
them, they again kept it for 2 days got the disc pad & some disc kit
changed which in total costed me 600 rs but I again faced the issue
the very next day.Now the problem is so severe that every morning on
the way to office the wheels gets jammed.

Any pointer as to why this is happening.I am also facing chain rolling
(near the engine) when i try to speed up - this again is not fixed by
them though told repeatedly. Also, I would like to escalate this issue
with senior people in Bajaj as I feel the service center guys have
done a perfunctory job and charged me for changing unnecessary
things. In total I paid 3K for service in Dec 2008(which included
engine head cleaning) but I don't see that big a difference in my bike
before and after service. In fact, I strongly feel the more I get it
serviced from them the more sooner I had to go back to them for the
same issues.

My motive is not to defame them ( though I would not recommend Popular
motors service in Bangalore to anyone) but I am really facing this
problem for the last one year and off late it has become everyday
issue and I would like get this problem resolved once and for all.So
guys any pointers would be very helpful.

Cheers
-Amit

PS: In case any of you face similar issue, the quick solution is to
drain some brake oil out by opening the valve attached to the brakes
on the disc brakes - I do this whenever the wheels get jammed and have
brought a spanner for it.
