Dear GR, Somehow was getting a feeling that I would be asked for that mail!
I have copy pasted the mail and the relevant followup thread of the same. Lekin ab you need to also tell me if I have done the right thing by using the old (stored) brake fluid as a flushing fluid!! ......nervous ............whether I am on the road to ruinery of the master cylinder assy!! This method takes lot of time and effort. The method we've evolved over the last 3 years is 1. suck the fluid from the master cylinder using a Vet Syringe 2. pump out the rest from the bottom bleed nut. 3. Take about 150ml of fresh brake fluid with the help of the syringe & pump it up through the bleednut, using a connecting pipe (ensure the bleednut is loose when performing this step). 4. fill till the required level of fluid is reached in the master cylinder. 5. Pump the front brake lever a few times so as to ensure the movement of all the air trapped in the system. 6. Connect a pipe to the bleednut & dip it into a small container having some fresh brake fluid. 7. Loosen the bleednut & pump the lever a few times. 8. Tighten the bleednut once the bubbling inside the container stops. This is a more mature method of bleeding the hydraulic system & would ensure better braking. Hi Venkat Can you please tell me the proceedure to bleed the pulsar brakes ? fromAkhilesh Mritunjai <[email protected]> [email protected] [email protected] dateMon, Nov 1, 2004 at 15:03 subjectRE: [bajajpulsar] Technical [Venkat] [Mani] How to bleed brakes ?? mailed-byreturns.groups.yahoo.com unsubscribeUnsubscribe from this sender hide details 01/11/2004 Hi Sirji Thanks for the valuable how to :-) I have a few doubts- --- "Venkat Shyam,BV" <[email protected]> wrote: > 1. suck the fluid from the master cylinder using a > Vet Syringe If I'm correct, the vet syringe needs to be connected to bleed nut... right ? > 4. fill till the required level of fluid is reached > in the master cylinder. I have a doubt that pumping brakes will result in this manner would result in removal of bubbles from bottom most part... so air trapped in brake line and upper portion will still be there... right ? I mean the Master cylinder which in common terms may be reffered to as the reservoir. but you need to connect the same syringe to the bleednut while pumping in fresh brake fluid. >>Did you by chance mean reservoir instead of master cylinder ? Mater cylinder is the technical term for what you term as Reservoir. >>If air is trapped in system, then brakes will have to be bled again... right ? If the brakes feel very spongy then you need to bleed the system again. Since you are fillin the sysem under pressure the quantity of air locked in the system would be very low. So you need to pump the brake lever only a few times. >>I have a doubt that pumping brakes will result in this manner would result in removal of bubbles from bottom most part... so air trapped in brake line and upper portion will still be there... right ? Remember the Pressure you create near the brake lever is transferred on to the wheel cylinder. so all the air trapped would move downwards. By releasing the same at the bottom would bleed the circuit out from air bubbles & make the system work effectively.
