Hi Pugs, Update on my 4 years old Pulsar. Last Friday took my bike to my native place & on the way bike stopped all of a sudden & refused to accelerate. It came to a complete halt & engine was no more alive. Switched off the Ignition key & turned ON. Pushed the stater button & the engine was alive but rough. Maintained speeds around 80kmph & reached home. Gave it for service locally & the clutch plates were found to be fried. Only 250 ml of Oil was found. Crank shaft, magneto & bore were suspected. Since it has 5 years of engine warranty I asked them to change the clutch plates & oil alone. Changed the clutch cable, air filter element & spark plugs too. Took it to Jai Autos, Adyar, Chennai on Monday & they inpected the bike & asked me not to worry & everything will be covered under warranty. Gave it to them on Tuesday & it was expected to be delivered on Wednesday. Due to a valid reason it got delayed & today I went there by morning. They've changed the bore & piston. 3 brand new steel plates were found to be bent & they changed them too. Also the tensioner was changed. By evening bike was delivered to me. Total bill came to Rs.508 & the bike is back to form. Engine is smooth & normal. I'm sure if I check the oil level frequently I can expect even more life from this new bore piston set. Should I re-do running-in now due to new bore & piston... _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Hi Pugs, Yesterday my Stormy turned 4. Day before yesterday gave it for 13th paid service excluding the 4 free services. Some of you know that it was an upgrade from Pulsar 150. It was worth every penny & I still don't find a reason to change this bike as I did 4 years ago. I like to thank this group for making me take such a wise decision. I like to share some of the details here. First lets see what BAL paid for my bike(warranty). 1. Speedometer 2. Side stand pick-up switch 3. Silencer Second is the list of things changed already. 1. Spark Plugs - Twice 2. Choke Cable - Once 3. Disk pads - Twice 4. Air Filter Element - Once 5. Clutch Cable - Once 6. Stay Collar - Once 7. Fork Cone Set - Once 8. Battery - Once 9. Chain Sprocket set - Once Third is the list of changes to be done. 1. Spark Plugs 2. Disk Pads 3. Clutch Plates 4. Air Filter Element Total expences has come around Rs.10,000 for maintanance which includes lubrications, spares & service labours. Lowest mileage returned was 35kmpl when it was ridden only 4 kms daily. Highest mileage returned was 56 kmpl. Normal mileage inside Chennai is around 50kmpl even now. Still its doing good on OE tyres & OE rear brake pads. That sums up its condition. Highest speed clocked as per speedo was 115kmph. -- Thanks & Regards, james.r The Speed Steed....
