In my version (gtk2-2.6.10-2), gtk_tree_store_remove() returns gboolean
You can possibly find that out by running
grep gtk_tree_store_rem /usr/include/gtk-2.0/gtk/gtktreestore.h
where the gtktreestore.h file location depends on your system.
