I can confirm this behavior. I just got a message with:
1 mixed parts
1.1 alternative parts
1.1.1 plain text document
1.1.2 HTML document
1.2 jpeg image 1
1.3 jpeg image 2
Message -> Next Part would get me between the text and html, but not to
the jpegs. However, if I clicked to display one of the jpegs, the
previous and next part commands (menu or keyboard) would switch between
them, and also back to the html, but not from the html back to the
jpegs. This is with 2.4.8 under KDE 4.4.5 on Gentoo Linux with kernel
2.6.34.
