Dear fellows,

Well, that was quite a time of it, but I think a good solid performance all
round. We managed a total of 31 promotions and mentions across the brigade,
far outdistancing every other brigade on campaign -- 24 for the 4th Foot,
12 for the Horse Guards, 23 for the Heavies. The lads of both regiments can
be proud, even those of No Particular Consequence who are so shunned by
more fashionable military units.

Saying that, though, I think we all realized that the enemy are more
serious now than they were in the winter. It's going to take everything
we've got, to prevail this summer. I don't know about you, but I had quite
a tight squeeze myself -- cannon fire striking the command post. Three more
months like this last, and we'll see some good men carried home in a box,
you mark my words -- unless every single officer and trooper in this
brigade stays right on top of his game.

That said, I can see some mighty parties in Paris come September, for the
homecoming heroes of the Third Foot. May Fortune, and the good Lord above,
favour the bold!
