Sir,

I have an idea on how to restore order to the illustrious DG that will not
force anyone to give up a current rank. I'm certain that others may balk at
this idea, however, it may instill a sense of justice without having the
effect of demoralizing the troops any further. My thoughts are to allow our
current Majors to maintain their rank, but not allow them any further
promotion within the DG until all current Captains are promoted above them.
Of course, battle promotions are another thing entirely, but they must be
earned by distinguished service at the front and not bought as
opportunistically as they obtained their majority. This way a punishment is
served without causing any further disgrace to my beloved DG. Therefore,
Captains GlV, LL, AdS, GdJ, and DdlV shall all obtain the rank of Lt.
Colonel (or seek their opportunities elsewhere or perish in honour) before
BDP or CdC are allowed to purchase that same rank or higher in the DG. Not
a perfect plan, Sir, but one that I hope you will consider.

Humbly yours,

Alain de Sevigny

[OOC: Okay, so this could be VERY difficult to keep track of. What can I
say, I'm tired of this whole thing too. The idea is that both current
majors "pay" by not having the opportunity for promotion within the DG until
all the "injured" parties are compensated - which in this case means getting
the promotion scheme back in line. They wouldn't be allowed to use BR
orders to get promoted, they'd have to hope that the current colonel or lt.
colonel die/get promoted themselves and then that they get a field
promotion. And if they did try to use BR and somebody catches it, then they
are expelled/demoted. Make the punishment fit the "crime" if you will. And
I'll shut up now. I'm leaving for New Orleans and may not have email until
I get back on Thursday.]
