Gentlemen

I wish to bring a matter to your attention a matter of debautchery within
the regiment which not only sullies the name of the King's Musketeers but
has forced a grave loss of respect for the men of the 2nd Battalion in its
commander. I have requested an immediate resignation on these grounds by
Major Guy de Neems and would like to submit an application for the command
of the 2nd Battalion.

I, was not to be the instigator of such bad tidings, as I felt after many
years of long service Major de Neems should be accorded certain privileges
and attempts to regain the respect of his men, many who have long service
with him. However, many of the junior officers and men were ready for open
action and I felt it best, that I as the senior Captain in the 2nd Battalion
take matters in hand and act swiftly and decisively.

As for the matter of my application, attached with this missive is a list of
the proposed 2nd Battalion structures including officers of which, if I
assume the command of 2nd Battalion, Captain d'Arcy would become the senior
captain and Subaltern le Ponce, with his seniority, should become the
Captain of Company D.

For the King,
For France,
Captain Henri du Bois
