It is far more probable that you overheard them discussing something which should not have been a subject for idle talk, and about which I will be speaking to them. I would like to tell you more, but legal proceedings are already in motion. Have you also considered the fact that, were your accusations found to be true, the resultant scandal would i) be extremely damaging to His Majesty's reputation, having petty criminals as officers in His own guards regiment, and ii) hurt the Colonel's reputation also, since it would be hard to miss _half_ of a regiment's captains being involved in a burglary and fencing operation of this size?
