His Excellency General le Duc Alain de Mylcandonai, His Majesty's Minister
of War, to
His Excellency Brigadier le Duc Axel von Fersen, His Majesty's Minister of
State,
Greetings!

PRIVATE AND CONFIDENTIAL

Your Excellency,

As I mentioned to you at the Government meeting at the beginning of last
month, I received last minute orders from His Majesty to remain in Paris to
deal with a delicate situation which had arisen at the Palace.
Unfortunately, this prevented me from conducting the snap inspection which I
had planned.

I was wondering if you could let me know what was happening as regards the
Chabot affair? The man was found guilty of treason and the Commissioner
ordered to handle his duties at the Foreign Ministry for the time being, yet
Chabot appears to be still firmly in place there - at least so far as the
current issue of the _Gazette_ is concerned?

Finally, I'd be obliged if you could confirm that the government meeting
will be taking place as usual this.

Your Obedient Servant,

Duc Alain de Mylcandonai
His Majesty's Minister of War
