To General le Duc Alain de Mylcandonai
Palais Royal
Rue St Honor
Paris

Mon Cher Fils,

I'm writing to tender my belated congratulations upon your wedding. What a
glittering affair it was! The Stag Party was probably the best attended
event I've ever been to - the whole of Paris appeared to be there! The only
incident that marred the proceedings was when the staff of the Fleur took it
upon themselves to prevent four gentlemen from offering their
congratulations to you personally. Did you ever get the bottom of that
incident?

I'm glad that the entertainment was so well received - the girls from Bendy
Wendy's can put on quite a show, can't they? I must admit that I was a
little hesitant about recommending them when Marquis de Sevigny first asked
my advice - they way they shoot those balls at the chandeliers probably
wouldn't go down too well at the Palace, I expect. (Still, a volley like
that would soon send the Spaniards running, eh?) I thought they set the tone
quite well for a Stag affair, however - I didn't notice any of your guests
pining for their ladyloves unduly in any event...

The wedding ball was a completely different kettle of fish, of course. I was
positively dazzled by the number of medals and mass of jewellery present at
the affair. It was an honour to be there in the company of Their Majesties,
Their Royal Highnesses, the Cardinal all the various luminaries and
dignitaries of France. (With one notable exception of course - I'm glad that
blackguard Brouilles had the good taste to stay away). I'm sure that it will
rank as _the_ social event of 1673, even if it was only January.

Did you get chance to discuss the matter of Michelle's title with His
Majesty, by the way? As the wife of Vicomte she should surely be accorded
more respect than is currently the case? You also said you'd see if
something could be done regarding the inappropriate title of the Princess'
father-in-law, of course.

When last you wrote you mentioned that His Majesty was considering policies
to improve the availability of housing within Paris and to stimulate the
coachbuilding industry (which has fallen into recession over the course of
the past few years). Is any progress being made with this? The sooner he can
address the much needed Military Justice reforms the better...

In finishing, just let me thank you once again for the undreamed of honour
of witnessing my only son marry into the Royal Family. Of course, if you and
the Princess were to find the opportunity to visit, the southern nobility
might actually believe it.

Your Proud Father,

Lt.Colonel (Retd) le Chevalier Marcel de Mylcandonai

P.S. Have there been any developments regards the purchase of Petite Masure?
