March 1674
The big news was the loss of eighteen thousand crowns in seven rounds of the most action-packed, intense gambling the Fleur de Lys has seen since the young days of Duc Zer, rest his soul.
The less prestigious clubs saw less action
than those of the higher levels, but a number of club members did find
time to partake of their comforts. In week one, Major Gustav von Braun
of the Dragoon Guards took Sally.for a quiet dinner and drinks at Horse
Guards. Also in week 1, Captain Yves Cherdlieu took Sylvia to the Blue
Gables, while Captain Jean de Beaumont drowned his sorrows with Elena at
the Frog and Peach. De Beaumont and Elena returned two weeks later, perhaps
in preparation for their visit to The Fleur de Lis in the final week.
Sub Altern August de L'Espere and Belinda enjoyed the comforts of Red Phillips
so much in the second week that they returned the following week. Also
in week three, Captain le Baron Pierre la Granoui took his sweetheart Pauline
to visit the Blue Gables, which they enjoyed immensely. Finally, in the
last week, Major Phil Y Zer sampled the club's wares with great care.
Perhaps the fact that he was unaccompanied explains his focus.
Meanwhile, a number of men visited the stews to see what pretty girls could
be found. In week one, Brigadier le Baron Chretien de Penma and Major Zer
were seen cavorting with a number of pretty ladies, although not in each
other's company. Perhaps this was what was occupying Major Zer's thoughts
at Red Philiips later in the month. In the second week, Lt. General le
Baron Julien Courvoisie tried his luck. A pair of large bosumed young women
caught his fancy and he was seen grinning as he disappeared behind a closed
door. The following week was quiet, but then both HGC and Brigadier le
Duc Coward de Custaad slipped in at the end of the month for a quiet,
well, slipping in.
