Brigadier, le Duc Coward de Custaad, O.C. Horse Guards Brigade, to Lt Colonel Louis d'Or, 2ic. Dragoon Guards
Dear Louis,
I would enjoy inspecting our fine cavalry before we march to the front. Thank you for preparing the men of the DG for me.
As for the spring ball, while slightly regrettable, it is entirely understandable that the DG cannot always celebrate together when times are busy.
Your call for new recruits to the DG is important, as we must be prepared to accept that in war there will be deaths. We shall need high calibre men to refill our ranks. I again confirm I will admit any man whose name you pass to me.
On a personal note, I wish you all the best and congratulate you on your outstanding dedication to duty.
Your friend, Coward

My Lord Duc,
I will be mustering each troop in turn, for inspection and to put them through their paces. Assisted by Captain D'Off, I will assure that each troop is ready for the front. If you wish to take the opportunity to inspect the troops, the men would be most proud. I will also be inspecting the buildings and grounds of the Dragoon Guards to ensure that they are well maintained and secure.
I apologize for my failure to hold the Spring Ball. The shortness of time and a brief illness allowed no time for planning the grand event. I will hold a Ball in September to make it up to the men.
I am putting out a call for recruits, as previously discussed. I will screen the candidates and pass on to you those recruits I find worthy.
The officers and men of the Dragoon Guards are keen to take the field against the enemies of the King and France, knowing that you will lead them unerringly to victory!
Respectfully, Louis d'Or Lieutenant Colonel, DG
