Brigadier General le Chev. Louis d'Or Dragoon Guards
Dear Brigadier le Chevalier d’Or,
I have seen your announcement recruiting gentlemen into the service of France in your esteemed unit. I would be honored if you would consider my application to join.
I myself am new to Paris, but both of my brothers have served, and died, in service to our country. My eldest brother, Yannick, served in the calvary, rising to become second in command of Grand Duke Max’s. My other brother, Etienne, served in the King’s musketeers and the Royal Foot Guards before he was felled in battle.
I come to Paris with the intention of avenging my brothers through glorious service to France. I intend to visit a terrible fate upon those enemies of our great country who have taken my brothers from me. I would deeply love to do so under your command.
Sadly, my mother became unhinged upon the death of Etienne. As I am the last remaining child, she attempted to keep me in the family chateau by force. I have escaped to come to the service of my country and king, but I do so nearly destitute. If you could see your way clear to advance me the cost of joining the regiment and purchasing horses, I would be most grateful.
Yours in service to la France,
Guillaume du’Draconcoeur
