From: BGen Baron Renald leBlanc
Greetings,
The retirement of Alain de Mylcondonnai as Minister of State has left a
matter dear to me unresolved. Given that you have applied for the position
of Minister of State, I would appreciate your views on how you would resolve
the issue.
As you know, I prosecuted Duc deMylcondonnai for Treason during my tenure
as Commissioner of Public Safety. That trial was resolved by the King
admitting that there was some evidence against Duc deMylcondonnai, but that
it was not enough to convict a Duc. Since that time, Duc deMylcondonnai has
told me in provate correspondence that he would stop at nothing to destroy
me -- including abusing his governmental position. Indeed, only my service
in His Majesty's Army has prevented him from doing so already.
I am told that Duc deMylcondonnai has already had the new Commissioner [his
former defense attourney] issue a warrant for my arrest, based on some
fanciful allegations of misconduct during my tenure as Commissioner, and
only bureaucratic difficulties have prevented it from being served. Given
that such a process would lead through your new office, I would humbly ask
for reassurance that this would be rapidly dismissed, and that we, and
France, could put the whole sorry affair behind us.
If there is anything I can do to help you into your new offices, please feel
free to ask. I stand ready to serve France in any way His Majesty's
Ministers request.
Respectfully Yours,
Renald leBlanc
