You may have noticed that there is a vacancy in C Troop. As I have a slight edge in seniority, I was wondered if you would be amenable to allowing me to purchase that captaincy.
On a social note, I am planning on having a gathering at my club sometime during the month of November, and was hoping that you would join me. I haven't yet settled on a precise date, as I don't want to conflict with any more prestigious gatherings which my guestsw (and myself) might prefer.
